Yes, our dalmation is of the same age and had the same growth on her chest. It eventually got to the size of an orange, they said it didn't do any harm. We had them remove it about 3 months ago and come to find out that it was getting so big that it began fusing/growing onto the muscle tissue. So you may ask about that, but she did fine. She had a drain tube in her chest for about a week that made quite a mess the first couple of days, but after about 3 days she was almost normal.

Thanks for the input. I guess we will just watch it closely for now. The estimate to remove it was $700-900 which seemed pretty high.

We have a ten year old male dalmation with a similar fatty growth on his chest/belly. We have not had a biopsy done, but the Vet said it is fatty growth and recommends that we leave it alone.

My 11 yr old female developed tumor on shoulder. It was biopsied as a mast cell(or mass cell). We had it removed 4 times in an 18 mo. period as they send out tenecles and are impossible to completly remove. It finally spread to other areas in the lymph nodes and she became very sedentary. As a last resort the vet put her on large dose of prednisone(20mg x 3/day) She totally turned around, her tumors receeeding and energy returned for about 9 more months of quality life before finally dying quietly in her sleep. No reason steroids should have worked that dramatically but they had quite an effect for awhile

Our 10 yr Black Lab had a fatty growth the size of a baseball on his shoulder. The vet said that it was nothing to worry about, but we had it removed anyway. He stated that it could be a side affect of the Heartworm medication that we had him on.
