Two dogs better than one???

My wife and I are debating whether or not to get another Yellow Lab puppey. Our dog now is 1 year old, amazingly well behaved and we're not sure if we should get him a brother. I need some advice, pros/cons if two are better than one. We have the room and a huge 260 acre park across the street where we go everyday to play. Do you think he would like a playmate or is he better off alone with us. I should add he gets along well with other dogs too.

most dogs do benefit from

most dogs do benefit from having a companion but there are alot of complications that can occur. Your Dog that you have now may feel dominant over the other once it is brought into the family and bully it so much that the younger one may become nervous or frightened of other dogs. Also, some dogs can get very attached to each other and, although, one year is not a big age difference, if one dog passes away the other may get depressed so much it can make itself ill and even die themselves. However if the right training is recieved and no allowances made for one dog or the other your new puppy will fit righht into the family. Good luck.

Yes, definately, I have a 9

Yes, definately, I have a 9 year old and i had debated getting another one for a long time. I was afraid because my older dog was never socialized so I wasn't sure how it would go. It's been about 5 months and so far great.
When you introduce the pup to your other dog do it in the park then bring them back to your yard, then house so your dog doesn't feel like the pup is taking over his territory
Good Luck.

He sounds great! Maybe you

He sounds great! Maybe you should get him a playmate, or a mate.

Getting two dogs sounds like

Getting two dogs sounds like a great idea, however some dogs can get tempremental and jealous so make sure yougive both dogs an equal amount of attention. You may also want to consider getting both dogs neutered if thay are not, good luck!
